I finally received my copy of Spectrum 18, and i couldn't be more happier ... oh wait, i actually can, because my illustration "Talason - Shadow Keeper" that i did for the "Serbian Mythology" project is included in it!!! :)
I would also like to congratulate my friends Dragan Bibin and Petar Meseldzija, because their beautiful illustrations are also included in this year Spectrum edition.

Serbian Mythology - Rebels

These are some of the illustrations i did for the third and final tome of the Serbian Mythology trilogy, called "Rebels - Witches and Vampires".
Once again it was a pleasure to work with a team of super talented artists Ivica Stevanovic, Dragan Bibin, Milos Vujanovic and my very dear friend Dusko Bjeljac.
Milenko Bodirogic is once again responsible for the the beautiful stories and descriptions of the creatures that are included in the book.
It has really been a awesome experience working on the two books of Serbian Mythology, and i really hope you guys like it.

CGsociety XXVI "DREAMSCAPE" Challenge, Best Character Award!!! AGAIN!!!

This morning i thought my heart was going to pop out from happiness when i saw the winners of the latest CGsociety "Dreamscape" challenge, my entry "The Little Match Girl" won the BEST CHARACTER award!!! :)
This was totally unexpected, because i didn't receive any pre-notification like last time, so it came as a huge and wonderful suprise!
This is such a big thing for me for so many reasons, and i would like to congratulate all the people who participated in the challenge, to congratulate the award winners, and to thank the CGsociety for this BEAUTIFUL recognition!

Eowyn and the Nazgul

I'm taking a little brake in between jobs to refresh my mind a bit.
The good people of ArtOrder and MuddyColors decided to join together in a challenge "Eowyn and the Nazgul".
The great thing about this challenge is that all the artist from muddy colors offered their critics and even paint overs of the participants entry's.
Artist like: Petar Meseldzija, Matt Stewart, and the MC crew: Dan Dos Santos, Jesper Ejsing, Eric Fortune, Justin Gerard, Donato Giancola, Arnie Fenner, Greg Manchess, and John Jude Palencar.

For the first time on my blog i will be posting step by step of my entry, so if you are interested feel free to tune in.

UPDATE 29/04/2011, decided to go for the vertical composition instead of the horizontal. sketch is nearly done, and i'm waiting for the critics from the masters before i go to much into details :)

Hey there guys and gals, long time no see :)
This is the illustration i did for the CGsociety ''DreamScape'' challenge.

I'm sure most of you know the fairy tale ''The Little Match Girl'' by Hans Christian Andersen.
Well, my story begins when this one ends.
When the last match is out, and there is nothing else to keep her warm in this cold winter night.
When she finally closes her eyes and drifts away in her last ice cold dream ...
Here, in this dream, she will take her last stand fighting off cold, but unfortunately we all know how this dream is going end ...

Serbian Mythology - Banished Demons

These are the illustrations i did for the second tome of Serbian Mythology, ”Banished Demons”.
It has been a great experience and even greater privilege to work on a such a cool project with so many talented people.
The super talented artist that also did the illustrations for the book are Milos Vujanovic, Ivica Stevanovic, Dragan Bibin, and one of my biggest role models while growing up, Master Petar Meseldzija.
Milenko Bodirogic is the brilliant writer and the editor of the book, but mostly the person that made sure this project saw the light of day.

CGhub Creature Planets #4 : Snarf Re-Design

I did this one for CGhub Creature Planet drawing jam, led by Mike Corriero.
It was a re-design assignment, and the theme was 80's cartoon character SNARF from the cartoon "Thunder Cats".
It took me about two hours to finish it, pen sketch and paint over in Photoshop.

The Picture Of Dorian Gray

Another book cover solution for my Academy studies.
As a kid, I was always terrified of the B&W movie version of the novel, so I thought it would be kind a fun to do my own version of Dorian Gray.
This one took me about a month to finish, main problem was I used so many different styles this time, but in the end, I like how everything fell into place.

Little Red Riding Hood

Little Red started off as one of the tasks I was doing for my Academy studies,
my Professor really liked it and suggested to do a storyboard for the entire fairy tale.

In this version there is no hunter who comes and rescues granny and the little girl in the end, ... wolf eats them, story over.
This is the main reason why the girl has a scull instead of a face ( a "walking dead" metaphor), and why all other illustrations are present in a more spookier manner.
I would like to thank Mr Ricardo Tercio for the inspiration on the wolf character.
